- The
Phosphorus readings will vary in a given year and are tied closely to the
water clarity of the lake. Phosphorus is the main ingredient that algae
feed on in any lake. You may have noticed that the water clarity is better
in the spring, gets worse during the summer, and then becomes a little
better in the fall again. The Phosphorus level runs parallel with that.
The readings for Fleming Lake
are typically good (low) in the spring and early summer, get worse in late
summer, and then level out or decrease in the fall. That is why multiple
readings are taken in the year for Water Clarity (secchi
disk readings) and why the association is also taking multiple samplings
for Water Quality - the Phosphorus nutrient.
- Our
thanks to Terry Dahlberg who takes the secchi
disk readings and to Joyce Fulton who does our water sampling.
- Years
for which there is a single sample:
- 1978,
August 28 - 50 ug/L
- 2010,
August 11 - 88 ug/L
